Inter fans furious online with possibility Alessandro Bastoni could be sold to Tottenham, Italian media report

Inter fans are venting their frustration with Suning owners online as the possibility that Alessandro Bastoni could be sold to Tottenham Hotspur this summer becomes more concrete.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome newspaper Corriere dello Sport, which reports that the #SuningOut hashtag is trending on Twitter as Nerazzurri supporters react to Bastoni transfer rumours.

Many Inter fans have already been frustrated with the club’s management under Suning since last summer’s big name sales of Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku, and anxious since it was reported the club had decided to do another major sale this summer.

Recent reports have suggested that Bastoni would be the most likely big player, with Tottenham lining up €70m for the 23-year-old at Antonio Conte’s request.

The defender is happy in a Nerazzurri shirt and doesn’t really want to leave but would agree to a departure and a reunion with ex-Inter manager Conte should the club accept an offer from Tottenham.

Even though club president Steven Zhang and other senior officials have repeatedly promised that the club will further strengthen to be competitive during the summer, fans’ anger and skepticism remain.

The Nerazzurri are set to sign Andre Onana and Henrikh Mkhitaryan on free transfers, while Paulo Dybala is expected to follow soon and a Romelu Lukaku return doesn’t seem unrealistic.

If the Nerazzurri complete this ambitious summer transfer business and more, that would go some way to mending the sentiment with many fans.

However, the fact remains that a big-money sale of a young player who has been a mainstay in the Nerazzurri defense like Bastoni would be a symbol of a negative direction for the club in the eyes of many fans.

At the moment, the atmosphere among Nerazzurri supporters is tense and nervous, in addition to boiling over with anger, as evidenced by the fact that since yesterday, more than 13,000 tweets containing the hashtag #SuningOut have been posted.
