Cellfin launches Mastercard-branded dual-currency prepaid card

Cellfin, the omnichannel banking app of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited, will now issue a dual-currency virtual prepaid Mastercard.

This card will allow purchases on any local or foreign e-commerce site, both in foreign currency and in Taka, a press release said.

Customers must endorse the necessary foreign currency in their passport for foreign currency transactions.

Islami Bank Managing Director and CEO Mohammed Monirul Moula inaugurated the card service on June 22 at a hotel in Dhaka.

Officials from both organizations, including Mastercard South Asia COO Vikas Varma, Mastercard Bangladesh Country Manager Syed Mohammad Kamal, Chief Risk Officer Mohammad Ali and Abul Fayez Mohammad Kamaluddin, director of the alternative banking wing of Islami Bank, were present on the occasion.

This card allows the transfer of funds to Mastercard brand cards or accounts of any bank connected to the NPSB/BEFTN/RTGS network.

Merchant payment, bill and fee payment, e-ticketing and mobile top-up can also be done.

Money can be added to this card from any bank’s Mastercard branded cards or any Islami Bank card, account and mCash service.

Cash withdrawals can be made at Islami Bank branches/sub-branches, ATMs/CRMs, bank branches and mCash points.

A prior account with Islami Bank is not required for this card. One can avail the card after registering on Cellfin.
