5 Ways to Transfer Photos from iPhone to Mac

While the iPhone is a great device for amazing photos in a flash, it’s not always the best for storing them, especially if you don’t have a lot of storage to start with.

Fortunately, there are other options for storing your photos, including your Mac. Even if it doesn’t have a lot of storage, your Mac certainly does a better job of storing than an iPhone.

Of course, if you have an iPhone 13 Pro Max with 1TB of storage, this may not be a problem for you. Still, if you want to edit your photos, there’s no doubt that the Mac is better for it by a landslide as well.

The good news for us is that there are plenty of ways to transfer your photos from your iPhone to your Mac, whether you want to use the cloud, send them as an email attachment, or use a cable. Read on to learn 5 Ways to Transfer Photos from iPhone to Mac.

Use AirDrop to send your photos

AirDrop is one of the best features the Apple ecosystem has to offer. It is so good; even Android has also started to use a similar feature. Airdrop allows you to quickly transfer anything from one Apple device to another like magic.

The good thing is that you can use AirDrop to send photos to your Mac in an instant. First, make sure AirDrop is enabled on your Mac and iPhone.

How to activate AirDrop on iPhone:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Press on General.
  3. To select AirDrop.
  4. Press on Everyone.

How to activate AirDrop on Mac:

  1. Open Searcher.
  2. In the left menu, click AirDrop.
  3. Click on Let me be discovered by: and select Everyone.

Now you are ready to go. Make sure your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are turned on on your iPhone and Mac, then follow these steps:

  1. On your iPhone, open the Application of photos.
  2. Choose the image you want to send.
  3. Press the share button in the lower left corner of your screen.
  4. Press on AirDrop.
  5. Tap your Mac.

And that’s all! Your iPhone will have a little message that says Shipped on your Mac. And, if you’re near your Mac, you should also hear a notification sound. By default, your photo should automatically be stored in your Downloads folder if you’re using the same Apple ID on both devices. Remember that you can use AirDrop even if you are up to 30 feet from your computer.

Import your photos manually

Using AirDrop is great, but if you plan to upload a lot of images, you might be better off uploading them yourself.

This is the best option if you have a lot of photos or long videos to transfer, or if your internet connection is not the best. All you need to do is use your iPhone, Mac, and a cable to connect them both.

  1. Connect your iPhone to your Mac using a USB-C to Lightning cable.
  2. On your Mac, open the Application of photos.
  3. Click on iPhone in the left menu. You may need to unlock your iPhone.
  4. Select all the photos or videos you want to import by clicking on them.
  5. Click on Import selection.
  6. You can also click Import all new items if you want to import everything at once.

Transfer photos with iCloud

If you are using the same Apple ID for multiple devices, iCloud is an amazing way to upload your photos or videos. What makes iCloud great is that you don’t have to do anything; your photos will automatically be added to the Photos app on your Mac and any other device with the same Apple ID. The downside is that it doesn’t happen immediately.

In order to transfer your photos, you need to turn on iCloud Photos on your iPhone and Mac.

How to activate iCloud Photos on your iPhone:

  1. Go to Settings application.
  2. Scroll down and select Pictures.
  3. To fall over ICloud Photos to.

How to activate iCloud Photos on your Mac:

  1. Open the Application of photos.
  2. Click on Pictures in the menu at the top of your screen.
  3. To select Preferences
  4. Click it iCloud tongue.
  5. Click on ICloud Photos.

Now your photos will automatically be added to the Photos app on your Mac. Remember that you can choose to download the original photos or an optimized version, so as not to fill your Mac storage with photos and videos.

Point: Some iPhone users will have another option called Photo Stream available. This feature will only upload the most recent photos you took in the last 30 days. You can enable this feature by following the steps above, but it may not be available to you. Apple indicates that some recent Apple IDs may not have this feature. In this case, you will need to continue using iCloud Photos.

Use a third-party cloud service

If your iCloud storage is already full enough and you don’t want to spend more money just to transfer photos, you can use a third-party cloud service.

Dropbox is a great option to use. Of course, you won’t have a lot of storage to store all your photos, especially if you only have the free version, but it will be enough to send quite a few photos from your iPhone and to your Mac.

Plus, you can keep the most important images in Dropbox and share them with others by sending them a link. Moreover, you can also use Dropbox to transfer important files.

Of course, Dropbox isn’t the only one. You can also use other cloud storage services like OneDrive, Google Drive, or any other service you know and trust.

Send your photos as attachments

It’s not the most glamorous way to send photos or videos from your iPhone to your Mac, but it works. You can attach any photo from the Photos app and send it to yourself.

You can then open the email on your Mac and download the photos to your Downloads folder. Of course, this isn’t the most efficient way, but if you don’t have your Mac right now to enable any of the features listed above, this might be a great option for you.
